Dear Partners — help me claim this blessed Scripture for our NEW YORK CITY!

So NOW I can tell you the secret of New York City! On Behind the Scenes, Paul Jr. and I gave many hints as to exciting news coming about our New York TV station. For many years our Channel 54 has been up the Hudson River, a little too far to cover the “Big Apple.” But, as I have reported, we were able to plant our new DIGITAL TRANSMITTER twenty miles closer to the Big City! Now we cover New York City with a powerful digital signal with all FIVE of our networks through-the-air FREE!

But the big problem has been the refusal of the major cable systems to carry even our main TBN network. Their argument has always been, “YOU HAVE NO TV STUDIO IN THE BIG CITY.” As such, they further argued that we had no significant local programming to meet local needs — which was largely true.

BUT NOW — ah, dear Partners — the reason for this historic letter to you!

I could write a thousand pages of the AGONY we have suffered through trying to get a studio, only to be disappointed again and again. I will not bore you with those thousand pages, but will give you ONE PAGE of glorious victory!

On July 27 we closed escrow on an historic Manhattan “off Broadway” little theatre! You older TBN Partners will know the significance of this address: 111 East 15th Street in historic UNION SQUARE at the corner of 15th and Park Avenue. YES, DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK!

As I said, you old timers will remember 111 Dyer Road, Santa Ana, California! That is where TBN began in 1973. We have smiled together as we recalled when on Dyer Road we were in “dire NEED”! I have often remarked to large TBN audiences in later years, “WHERE WERE YOU WHEN WE DESPERATELY NEEDED YOU?!” But now we see why God planned it HIS WAY! Now NO ONE can take the credit or the glory for HIS TBN! Glory be to God most high! Jan and I have often quoted the apostle Paul —

“GOD HATH CHOSEN THE FOOLISH THINGS …TO CONFOUND THE WISE…THAT NO FLESH SHOULD GLORY IN HIS PRESENCE.” I Cor. 1:27, 29

All glory be to our “3 in 1”! Yes, the Holy Trinity has done it again — another miracle of our great God proving His love for the millions of souls we will now cover by television!

Now, let me tell you a little more about this small “off Broadway” theatre.

New York, rejoice! We will have many great programs together in the 298 seat auditorium. It was formerly the “Century Center for the Performing Arts.” It was built in 1857 and was totally renovated in 1996. In 1993, it was declared an “HISTORIC LANDMARK” by the City of New York and, as you can see from the pictures, will be a beautiful NEW HOME for your TBN! Praise the Lord!

Jan and the decorators, engineers and production staff are already at work installing equipment, building sets, hanging lights, placing furniture, and on and on! In a few months we will have a glorious “OPEN HOUSE” for many days so that New Yorkers and all our TBN family can visit THEIR NEW HOME! Even if you cannot come to New York, we will all be together by television, WORLDWIDE, from 111 East 15th Street, Manhattan, New York City!

Yes, we rejoice for this new home for TBN, and rightly so; but the real victory is the fact that in a short time we will be “must carry” on all the greater New York cable systems! Millions upon millions of souls, yes, many in “the valley of decision.” We will have the joy of telling them the “old, old story of Jesus and His love.”

Yes, TBN is God’s great miracle with, now, over 7,000 affiliated stations, cables, etc., with 55 great satellite footprints covering the world! And yet God has called you and us together to take “HIS GOSPEL” to the ends of the earth. Jan and I could never have done our part without YOU and your part. But together with God’s part, the Word is “covering the earth, as the waters cover the sea.”

I recently discovered a new song that has moved my spirit greatly. Read these anointed words from the song, “LITTLE IS MUCH.”

In the harvest field now ripening,
There’s a work for all to do;
Hark! The Master’s voice is calling
To the harvest calling you.

‘Welcome home, My child – well done!’

Shall we build New York? Jan and I know your answer! We love you now 33 years long and strong!
